The first snow of winter arrived at the weekend, and as I was passing Fort William I couldn’t resist the opportunity to experience it. Although very cold, it was unusually calm at the summit of the Ben. It was late afternoon and I was the last person there – the few walkers who had ventured up the hill were already well on their way down the track. Very peaceful; the ruined observatory looked desolate with a coating of powdery snow on the rocks.
I made it back to Achintee without having to resort to the headtorch!
